Honorable Mention

I will never forget attending Bumbershoot for the first time. The year was [1995], we drove down from Vancouver just to see The Ramones… The main act of the day was Ramones & Mudhoney, but before they came on we first had the pleasure of seeing Mel Tormé. Well, as soon as Mel started to sing the crowd of young people at the front of the stage went nuts, fist pumping, moshing and crowd surfing etc. From the looks on Mel Tormé’s face you could tell that he was having a good time as well, the crowd cheered Mel on, and Mel in turn put on a great show with a huge smile on his face the whole time!! Later we saw Mudhoney, who were great as usual, and then THE RAMONES—my only time seeing them—they were unbelievably stupendous!! One of my best concerts, 167 songs in 40 minutes! OK, I’m exaggerating but you get the picture!
